Why should I donate to the Friends of the Foundation program?

The most important reason is to support local non-profit organizations that need the funding. The work they do is really important and your donation keeps them going.

Beyond donor dollars, the Friends of the Foundation program is unlike any other. No foundation or direct give to charity allows real estate professionals to collectively grow the REALTOR® brand as part of giving back. Nowhere else are these donations being pooled from people across the industry and presented on behalf of all REALTORS®.

How will my donation be used?

One of the neat things about giving to your foundation is that the administration costs are covered by CREB® which allows us to redirect 100 per cent of donor dollars to non-profits. This is how we know every donation to the program is used to the fullest.

What is the minimum donation to get a tax receipt/become a “Friend”?

For only $20 per month ($240 per year), you can become a Friend of the Foundation.

The online pledge form is available on CREB®Link under your CREB® member account. Click on foundation pledge and follow the steps to complete the donation process.

CREB® will automatically renew donations annually unless cancelled and a tax receipt will be issues for donation of $20 or more. It’s that easy to become a friend.

How do you make investment decisions about donor dollars?

Every year, the CF receives numerous applications for funding and, through a rigorous evaluation procedure, determines the amount of financial support that will be awarded to various organizations each year.

In some cases, we also rely on the broader membership to help make important investment decisions. For example, the 15 grant recipients through the Investing in Hope program were determined by CREB® members and staff through an exclusive online nomination and voting program.

Experienced staff and board volunteers make sure every investment decision aligns with CREB®’s priority to support the communities where CREB® members live and work. That’s why it’s easy to keep being a friend.
