The CREB® Charitable Foundation and the family of Mr. Robert Pound are pleased to announce the following character scholarship award for $500.

Robert Pound was a witty individual who valued hard work, honesty, integrity and truth. He faced many challenges in his life and met them head on. He loved working with people and took great pride in helping where he could. These aspects of Mr. Pound’s character ensured his success when he joined the real estate profession as a second career.

About the Robert Pound Character Scholarship

The Robert Pound Memorial Character Scholarship is an annual scholarship funded by the family of Mr. Robert Pound. 
 
Robert Pound was a witty individual who valued hard work, honesty, integrity and truth. He faced many challenges in his life and met them head on. He loved working with people and took great pride in helping where he could. These aspects of Mr. Pound’s character ensured his success when he joined the real estate profession as a second career.

Mr. Pound believed that generosity is a true measure of character, and his family wants to carry on his dedication to generosity by supporting a promising real estate associate who is working towards their professional license.    

Eligibility

To qualify, all candidates must:

  1. Be a Canadian citizen domiciled in the Calgary area.

  2. Have completed Phase 1 of the Real Estate Associates program.

  3. Be a mature student embarking on a second career.

Will I Qualify?

The Robert Pound Character Scholarship requires the candidate demonstrate evidence of a strong commitment to honesty, integrity, strong work ethic, professionalism, resiliency and strength in the face of adversity, in addition to showing commitment to their community.

The scholarship does not require a specific grade point average. Instead, candidates must demonstrate integrity of character, an entrepreneurial spirit, the ability to lead and the energy to use their talents to their fullest potential.

Applying

Overall, the application must tell a coherent narrative of your life including your experience and accomplishments, and how a Robert Pound Character Scholarship will help you achieve your professional ambitions.
The official application requires:

  • A personal statement of 900 words (max)

  • A resume

  • Three letters of reference

  • Birth certificate/passport (evidence of age)

  • Photograph

Personal Statement: The personal statement is the most important component of your application. The selection committee will place special emphasis on it. Your statement should articulate precisely who you are. Your stories should demonstrate your honesty, integrity, professionalism, dedication to community, resiliency and strength in the face of adversity. Your personal statement should provide committee members with a clear picture of you as a well-rounded individual.

Letters of Reference: Three letters of reference are required for the Robert Pound Character Scholarship application.  At least one of your letters should be from a previous supervisor or employer.   
Aside from the personal statement, your letters of reference are the most crucial component of your application. Your references should provide specific examples of your honesty, integrity, professionalism, dedication to community, resiliency, and strength in the face of adversity. It is strongly suggested that you give references ample warning of the submission deadline (at least a month advance notice).
