Since its inception in 1987, the Calgary Real Estate Board^® Charitable Foundation has contributed more than $3.5 million to a wide range of charities and non-profit organizations in our community. Made up of a membership of more than 5,300 REALTOR® and community members, the CREB® Charitable Foundation exists to promote the charitable and philanthropic activities of its members as well as to provide funding to shelter-related initiatives in Calgary and area.

Every year the CREB® Charitable Foundation receives numerous applications for funding and through a rigorous evaluation procedure by a committee of the Board of Governors, determines how much financial support will be distributed for that year and to whom.  In 2009 over $77,000 was distributed to four charities to fund shelter-related initiatives.

In May 2010, REALTORS®, through the Calgary Real Estate Board Charitable Foundation, announced they will be donating $500,000 to the Brenda Strafford Society for the Prevention of Domestic Violence for the building of a unique housing and commercial project, the first of its kind in Canada.

Calgary Real Estate Board Charitable Foundation is governed by a 10 member Board of Governors composed of elected REALTOR® members and appointed Community members.
